The FSU Women's Rugby Club is looking for enthusiastic women to join our team and learn this challenging and fun sport. No experience is necessary! Ashley Dockery 08

Home Match vs Jacksonville Results

11.24.08 - Unfortunately, FSU fell to Jacksonville (15-24) in our last home match of the semester. FSU held the lead securely in the first half with 2 scores from flyhalf Kendall Vaughn. FSU kept up pressure in the second half with another score by Kendall but the Jacksonville team held on with saving kicks by the Jacksonville line and they finally found their groove with 3 unanswered scores in the last 10 minutes of the match. Outstanding players for FSU: rookie scrumhalf Ashley Dockery, flyhalf Kendall Vaughn, center Annette Hansford, hooker Adriana Gutierrez, and prop Kelly Bilbrey. We begin our competitive Spring season when classes resume in January. Happy Holidays!

Caitlin Runs

FSU Beats UF Rivals

10.20.08 - FSU beat a tough UF side 19-15 in our first home match of the season. Rookie number eight, Amanda Hoak, started off the scoring early in the match with a bruising run through the UF defense off a penalty play. FSU Fullback Caitlin Brown then ran in a thrilling 40 meter try later in the half off after several phases of rucks. She also kicked the conversion for another 2 points. Florida found their strength for the middle part of the match, abusing FSU tacklers with several long runs by their scrumhalf, and scored 3 unanswered and unconverted tries. Late in the second half, FSU finally broke through the UF line successfully with Caitlin Brown again cruising through defenders for her second try and successful conversion. FSU held strong for the final 8 minutes as UF brought the ball to within 5 meters of scoring. Persistent defense and supportive play from outstanding players Kelley Bilbrey, Kendall Vaughn, Cory Coates, Adriana Gutierrez, and Amanda Mahoney, preserved the win for FSU. Thanks to our supporters and especially the FSU Men's squad for their support! Next up is the Battleship Tournament in Mobile, AL on Nov. 8-9.
