The Practice That Made Perfect

St. Pete Times - by Maurice Rivenbark

Unless you are the Harlem Globtrotters, a record of 33-0 is cause for celebration in any sport.
For the Florida State Univerity women's rugby team, it means a trip to the national championships
this weekend in Chicago. The 22-member team scored 1,141 points this year and yielded only 10, more
than sufficient to join seven other teams in the nationals. St. Petersburg photographer Maurice Rivenbark
photographed the team last week as they practiced for the tournament.

Before practice, footwear goes on.

Stretching for glory: members of the Florida State Women's rugby team,
playing this weekend for the national championship reach for the ball during practice.

Kathy Flores prepares to catch the throw-in.
